-Debatably handsome, has a distinctive once-or-twice broken nose.
-Very tall, very brawny, very athletic, darkly tanned. Lots of scars from fighting, some of them extremely old.
-Limited use of his left hand due to nerve damage from a knife fight.
primary personality traits:
-Big ego, which he's earned to an extent, based on his successes Impressing solid Brown, flying endless Greens, and boning men & women from weyr to hold and all over the place basically.
-Has been a useful tool for S'ris, which is probably the only reason the Weyrleader tolerates him slash doesn't treat him with open contempt.
-Driven as hell. If he wants something, he'll get it, and he'll act rashly or plot to get there, depending on whatever's convenient.
-Highly competitive. 'Good' at Searching candidates because he goes for quantity, not quality.
-Authoritative. His weyrlings do what they're told, or else.
-Doesn't like pied or bleached dragons, and doesn't like people who are outside the Norm. Doesn't like holders except for their women, doesn't like any divergence in human shape or form, just kind of a narrow-minded intolerant twat.
relevant history:
-Weyrbrat during a tumultuous time, was caught up in the rarity of Impressing solid dragons and the wave of anti bleached/pied sentiment, was a lot of competition and bad blood between candidates because of the greatly reduced # of 'normal' dragons hatching, and dragons hatching in general. Lots of fighting, even tho it didn't make a difference in Impression.
-Or, maybe it did. He killed another candidate before the Hatching, in a controversial incident that was ultimately deemed an accident (a knife fight gone wrong, ending in hitting an artery instead of at the traditional and shallow 'first blood'), leaving him one fewer 'opponents' on the Sands.
-P'tas Impressed Hartantuleth and as usual they became an inseparable pair. Hartantuleth was one of only two solid colored dragons in a clutch, and a clutch without Bronzes, so the two of them had an enormous ego about it. Hartantuleth grew incredibly quickly and was flying Greens earlier than most. They quickly established themselves as invaluable in putting down Holder rebellions, dredging out scavenger hideouts and routing ravagers, and in times of Search, they were relentless.
-Has never settled down with a weyrmate for more than a Turn or two. Has several weyrbrats running about. Is notorious for claiming unImpressed candidates for himself, usually female, occasionally male, and persuading them to live in the Weyr as his lover, which they do until his presence and borderline abuse become intolerable.
-S'ris instated him as Weyrlingmaster after viewing his athletics and precision during mating flights and in coordinating Searches. So now he's responsible for teaching newly Impressed dragonriders the ins and outs of flight. He's brutal, unfair, but he gets the job done, which is what S'ris needs.
relevant views on current events: Fuck bleached and pied dragons, he sees their usefulness as a necessary evil. He thinks they ought to be bred out.
ambitions: Aspires to fly a Queen, as H'lain and Suleth have. He doesn't think of being Weyrleader (he's too used to S'ris being in control and being his soldier, and while he sometimes butts head with his leader, he's too dominated to think of rebelling) but he dreams of helping to restore the Weyr to its glory by flying fertile dragons and producing lots of kids, personally.
