name: S'ris, formerly Salaris, son of Weyrleader S'los (rider of Harth) and Weyrwoman Alara (rider of Willeth)
sex: male
age: 40s approaching 50
dragon name: Urmath
dragon color: solid Bronze
dragon personality: As far as Bronze dragons go Urmath seems extremely chill. He's grown af, is huge and powerful, and spends most of his time sleeping and eating. S'ris likes to refer to him as 'that lazy bastard'. But Urmath is also easily enraged, has a vicious temper, and reacts violently to any perceived slight to S'ris. That's one testament to S'ris's iron will, is that he's able to control Urmath.
basic appearance: Pretty short considering how intimidating he is. Compact, stocky, all muscle, has never let age slow him down from doing just as much work as younger riders. He doesn't sleep much (doesn't need it, one of those people who only needs like 3 hours) so he has dark circles under his eyes. Brown hair turning a little silver in places, heavily tanned skin. Handsome in a very rugged, grouchy-looking way.
primary personality traits: Absolutely relentless and ruthless when it comes to doing his job, protecting his people, doing what he believes has to be done. Never forgets that there is always some young Bronze rider eager to take his place. Has dueled and killed more than his share of those kids. He never lets his guard down. But if you're not fucking with him, and you're following his orders, he's downright genial. Respectful, courteous, absolutely insists that Weyr understaff are treated like human beings. He knows just about everyone in the Weyr by name, as usual partially to keep an eagle eye on everything that's happening, and partially to be likable/because he's actually good to talk to and remembers people. He's a fucking iron fist of a human being but he's a decent human being as well.
relevant history: everything that's in the storyline! Betrayed and killed his father with the help of a few other young riders, took over as Weyrleader, cut out Thomos Weyr and doomed them to extinction. As soon as Urmath was mature he flew Hydaja's Queen, Soforith, and she became Weyrwoman as he became Weyrleader. Unlike a lot of dragonriders, he and Urmath have remained 100% faithful. He adores Hydaja and relied on her power as a Queen rider heavily in his takeover. They have had a handful of children together.
Skipping back but as a child, I think his father S'los was the kind of rider who just fucked around (which is normal in a Weyr but still) and had a lot of children, and kind of forgot about S'ris. That allowed S'ris to be distant enough to regard S'los as an opponent and not a father. That's also a reason he keeps tabs on his children - because he's proud, and because he's always wary that one of them might try to overcome his power.
relevant views on current events: Believes in subjugating the Holds as necessary, ultimate goal is to repopulate the Weyrs entirely and restore the dragonriders to their rightful place in society.
ambitions: stay at the wheel of the Weyr in order to ensure that all of that ^ occurs, and to establish an appropriate successor for when he eventually dies.
