name: goes by Rom, despite convention; birth name is Anarom, rider name is A'rom
sex: intersex/nonbinary, male presenting and uses male pronouns. however is often also called 'it.'
age: 28
faceclaim: Ben Whishaw
dragon name: Imith
dragon color: Blue; pied
dragon personality: every bit as frowned upon as her rider. As a female Blue and a partly bleached dragon, she isn't much respected by others, often considered to be ugly and defective. But she... owns it? Imith is full of fire and doesn't let herself be bullied by others unless doing so would seriously endanger herself or Rom, who she guards more fiercely than any dragon before her has ever guarded their rider. She seems very much like a reflection of them in public, seeming very much like the strong and silent type. In private she is very much a nurturer, and can be extremely gentle and affectionate to the few individuals closest to her.
basic appearance: Tall, lanky, agile. Dark hair but blue eyes. Presents as male, mostly. Androgynous in appearance, has a sort of prettyboy look. Unclear how much of it is intentional. Wears their hair short, keeps their face shaven. Again, a sort of lean and ropey person, doesn't have much fat and has a ravenous appetite.
primary personality traits: Quiet and stoic, businesslike. Introverted and doesn't like interacting with other people, partly because other people are usually dickheads to them on account of their fucked up dragon and fucked up self and also they're a Seeker. Possibly has a considerable lack of empathy or is at least so wrapped up in their duty as a Seeker that they honestly don't care about how their Candidates feel. Prefers dragons, watch-whers, and fire lizards over any human, in fact just prefers the company of animals in general because they're good and non-judgemental. Also enjoys reading, when they can.
relevant history: Raised by a livestock farming family in a Hold, and taken to Tazum Weyr when they were within age. Their parents didn't really care to hide them or anything because... honestly they're sort of considered to be a disgrace, despite their aptitude for taking care of livestock. Anyway, as luck would have it, they were Chosen by a dragonet during a hatching, and at 16 years old, they began their new life at Tazum Weyr.
relevant views on current events: Regards everything rather coolly, but finds the increased tension between the Holds and the Weyr to be incredibly inconvenient, to say the least. Prospective Candidates are harder and harder to find as they are hidden away from Seekers, leading them to become more and more forceful in their collecting, which they don't enjoy. Meanwhile, with the Weyrleaders aging and beginning to struggle with the hardships of their lives, is distantly hopeful that perhaps a less iron-fisted leader will arise and ease the rising turmoil throughout the Continent. However, they're sort of cynical by nature and don't expect anything other than what they've experienced so far.
ambitions: Outwardly, seems to have no ambition, merely serving the Weyr because it's their duty as one chosen by a dragon. Secretly seeks approval, however, and wants nothing more than for them and their dragon to be recognised as equals in a less-than-inviting world.
other: Rom is going to be really hard for most characters to get along with. They're very reserved, they tend not to like people, and they're seriously a social outcast for it and their gender nonconformity. Weyrfolk tend to be more tolerant of them, but Holders will most likely actively hate them, in part because they're a Seeker. This is what I expected going into this character. It's okay to be mean to them (IC of course)! If you have any plot ideas or want your character to try and befriend Rom, hit me up in PMs and I'll be glad to talk about it!
