name: S'hyd, from Sarahydal
sex: male
age: late 20s?
faceclaim: Jason Momoa
dragon name: Uisbeth
dragon color: Piebald Bronze, bleaching limited mostly to his forelimbs. Big scars over his face, and two pits where his eyes used to be.
dragon personality: A little too philosophical for a Bronze. Since he isn't allowed the usual ambitions of a Bronze dragon (he'll never fly a Queen or lead a wing into battle), he leans towards the whimsical. Because he's blind, he sees the world through S'hyd's eyes, so often complains when S'hyd spends too much time asleep, or in the boring Hold interior, etc. Runs a snide commentary over whatever S'hyd happens to be doing/looking at, for his own amusement. Misses dragonkind but has learned to befriend others like random holders, watch-whers and so on. Has a kind of consistent sense of humor to make up for his life circumstances.
basic appearance: S'hyd is very very tall, with brown skin that's tan from being out in the sun a lot. He has long hair that he ties back when he flies. He's very athletic, muscular, does a lot of physical errands to try and get in good with other people. He's handsome. Kind of Total Package except for his somber life circumstances.
primary personality traits: Considering his life situation, perky. He's decisively kind, probably as a result of the shit deck of cards he was dealt. He especially likes kids because he's massive so they're scared of him at first but then they realize he's nice and then he gives them piggie back rides and shit. Has come a long way from being an overly ambitious youth, been smacked down by flying too close to the sun and all that. Now he tries his best to be humble, to treat people with fairness, and uses his relatively high rank as a Bronze rider (even an exiled one) to mediate disputes and be a bridge between Weyr and Hold.
relevant history: His parents are S'ris Weyrleader and Hydaja. He was probably their 3rd child? Idk how many they had yet. He fulfilled early expectations by Impressing a Bronze dragon, and a nearly solid-colored one. He was expected to eventually fly a Queen and possibly succeed his father one day. But before Uisbeth was fully matured, one of the junior queens rose to mate. She and her rider were notorious for vanity and for violence against mating partners and enemies alike. In the heat of the moment, enraged at the ambition of the young Bronze and his rider, the Queen attacked and blinded him. The mating Flight almost devolved into complete chaos, and two of the remaining Bronzes had to guide Uisbeth to the ground. Someone still flew that Queen, but given how much could have gone wrong, and how few Queens and Bronzes they were and still are at the Weyr, S'ris was outraged.
Even though (or maybe especially since) S'hyd was his son, S'ris had him exiled and sent to essentially stand guard over a Hold. (idk which yet). While Uisbeth is blind, he's still physically intimidating, and a powerful visual example of the power of the Weyr.
relevant views on current events: He can painfully relate to all sides of the conflict. He knows the struggles of the Weyr and fears for the extinction of his kind, but has also faced his father's cruel command personally. He's also learned much from being exiled to a Hold, where he has a relatively positive relationship with the Lord holder. He's seen people escape the Holds fleeing the Weyr, and seen the desperation of the riders on Search. He definitely holds resentment towards his father but still stands with the Weyr.
ambitions: His ambition used to be to be the leader of a new Weyr, but now, he doesn't have any. Something he thinks wistfully about finding a way for Uisbeth to be able to fly properly once more, to partake in a mating flight, thinks about finding a mate of his own, but it's not likely and so he tries not to think about it.
